In May 2010, managing committee, tried to sell the club to Bernau. The project was coverd as a fusion of two football clubs, but really a totally surrender of Eberswalder side. The plan failed because of the resistance of engeged people in the club.

The Sport Club Freya Marienwerder was founded in 1924 in the 25 km to the west of Eberswalde situated village of the same name. The club was called Aufbau Marienwerder at GDR times, returned in 1990 to the traditional name. Sportily one did not strike till 2001 further. Nevertheless, then a rapid promotion from distrct class was occurred till county league . This could be reached by numerous Motor Eberswalde player wich changed to the village. A political struggle under village politicans end the story of the club on his home ground. It find asylum in Eberswalde and the negotiations for a fusion offer was accepted by Motor's managing committee. The name of fusionated club was the oldest traditional name in Eberswalde's football history "Preussen" .
